Questions
What is A Dollar Closer?
A site where people post a bill they’re trying to cover, like car repairs, a vet bill or a month of rent, and strangers help one dollar at a time.
How does giving work?
Tap $1 on a goal, or pick an amount on the goal page. Venmo opens with the person, the amount and a note filled in. You send it in Venmo, then tap “I sent it” so it counts.
Does it cost anything to give?
No. Right now gifts go from your Venmo straight to theirs, with no fee from us.
Do I need an account to give?
No. You only need an account to post a goal.
How do you check goals?
A person on our team reads every goal before it goes live. We can’t verify every detail of every story yet, so give what you’re comfortable with.
How does the progress on a goal update?
The person who posted the goal updates what they’ve received on Venmo. Their bill fills in with color as they get closer. Gifts people report sending are counted separately.
Is my Venmo payment public?
Our links ask Venmo to make the payment private. You can still change that in Venmo before you send.
What can I post a goal for?
A specific bill or expense you’re trying to cover. Repairs, medical and vet bills, rent, utilities, school costs. Keep it to one clear thing with a real amount.
Does it cost anything to post a goal?
No. Posting a goal is free.
